LaMotte is a community of 312 residents in northeast Jackson County. A picturesque town square park is located in the center of this ethnic German Village. Settled in gentle rolling hills, with clear streams and surrounded by rich farmland, LaMotte is only 15 minutes south of Dubuque. A restored historic narrow gauge railroad depot brings visitors and railroad buffs to the community; tourism is growing in the scenic community. The city government is upgrading the infrastructure in anticipation of economic development. Housing projects are part of development plans.
