MAP |
Andrew, located on the GRANT WOOD SCENIC BYWAY, is a
community of 460 residents. The city is known as the birthplace
of Iowa's first governor, Ansel Briggs.
Andrew is a farming community and it supports a community
school. New home construction and small business expansions have
helped the city grow. Travelers come to visit the restored
historic Jackson County Jail, which was built in 1870, and is
listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Not far from the city is Brush Creek, a cold water trout stream.
Seed corn is produced in the area and agriculture is the area's
largest industry.
Andrew is the GEOGRAPHIC CENTER - the HEART of
Jackson County - which makes it a perfect base for driving or
bicycling loop tours of Jackson County.
