Jackson County Historical Society
Museum
Go back in time with a visit to the JCHS Museum. A memorial trip
that will make your visit to Maquoketa something you'll treasure
and talk about forever.
Two handicap
accessible floors, abounding with local history displays to inform
and amaze you with Jackson County history from when the county
was founded to the present day. See many artifacts in a visitor-friendly
floor plan.
All artifacts
have been donated by local residents. Displays change often, so
every visit is a new experience. A separate building on the county
fairgrounds houses one of the state's largest displays of old
and antique farming equipment. A short walk to the "shed"
is a tour in itself. Programs are presented often; ask for a schedule.
The local geneological
chapter shares the site with an extensive research library. Knowledgeable
staff is available for information to help make sure your tour
is more pleasant.
When in Eastern
Iowa, be sore to stop by the JCHS Museum at the fairgrounds. It
will be worth your time.
